Kristin Watson joined Hood College’s volleyball staff in the summer of 2019.
Watson began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Maryland Juniors Volleyball Club in 2016, serving as the 14U team assistant coach, 13U elite head coach, 15U elite black assistant coach and the 12U elite head coach.
Collegiately, Watson played volleyball for UMBC as a two-year team captain and won the America East Defensive Specialist of the Year in 2016. In 2017, she earned UMBC Athletics Gritty Award for Breakthrough Athlete and was named to the America East Volleyball All-Academic Team. Watson served as the UMBC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president.
She is a 2019 graduate of UMBC with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a certificate in media and communications studies, as well as a minor in American studies.
Payton Belella ‘18 joined the Hood College volleyball coaching staff in the summer of 2019 after finishing a standout career for the Blazers.
A three-year captain, she was a three-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth selection, including second team honors as a freshman and a senior. Belella set the school record for career assists and owned the top four single-season totals in school history when she graduated. She was the first player in school history with 1,000 assists and 1,000 digs. In the classroom, she was a MAC Academic Honor recipient. As a senior, Belella received the Kim Servedio Award for sincerity, selflessness, and optimism at Hood’s senior athletic awards.
She also served as a three-year 17U/18U club coach for the Washington County Juniors Volleyball Club.
Belella graduated from Hood in December 2018 with a degree in biology.
