Dana Barstow (Mitchell) has been coaching the Hood College Blazers since January, 2017. She came to Hood after serving as the head varsity coach for both boys and girls volleyball at James Hubert Blake High School, her alma mater, in Silver Spring, Maryland. She has been the head coach of the boy's program since 2012 and was the girl's varsity head coach from 2013-17. In 2014-15, Barstow (Mitchell) was the head coach of the UMBC women's club volleyball team that attended the national tournament. She was a coach at Columbia Volleyball Club from 2013-2017 and was a private-lesson coach for JK Volleyball. She also served as the head coach of two teams that belonged to the Champions of Tomorrow Volleyball Club during the 2012-13 season, one of which placed second in Gold for the South Atlantic Championships.
Before attending James Madison University and playing a year of club volleyball for the Dukes, Coach Barstow (Mitchell) earned Montgomery County All-Star and Gazette Honorable Mention. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from JMU, with a concentration in Physical Therapy.
